Bayern Munich left back Alphonso Davies has been a hot topic in Bavaria and Madrid in recent weeks. Following reports that Davies had reached a verbal agreement with Los Blancos to join the club, Bayern Sporting Director Max Eberl said they would hold further contract talks with the 22-year-old. However, it seems that these talks did not succeed.
Ace for AS Diary, Bayern offered him 13-14 million euros per year to sign a new deal, but he did not meet the demands of 20 million euros per season. That, at least at this point, is as high as Bayern are willing to go, and so with the latest rejection, Davies has decided he wants to play for Los Blancos. Knowing that Bayern will not go any higher, he has put the ball in Bayern's court, knowing that they face either losing him for free next summer or negotiating a fee for Davies with Real Madrid this summer.
This has been Real MadridThe strategy of the whole time, and it seems that the negotiations between the two clubs are the only thing that prevents the move now. Bayern's director of football, Christoph Freund, has stated that they do not want to lose players for free.
Bayern have shown in the past that they will negotiate hard, but it seems to benefit all three parties to reach an agreement. Based on their salary structure, it seems unlikely that Davies will earn what he could have with Bayern. The top of Real Madrid's salary structure is currently occupied by Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham, and they will earn between €10-12 million per season.
