Barcelona teenager Lamine Yamal is on a rampage in La Liga so far, with his 7 goal contributions so far more than anyone else in Spain. Already with a Euro medal to his name, Lamine Yamal is now appearing on talk shows as his celebrity status matches his footballing prowess.
A number of anecdotes about Lamine Yamal have begun to emerge, and Cadena SER have revealed another. His very name – which works in a pair like Luis Enrique – is in fact a combination of the names of two people that his parents knew.
His full name is Lamine Yamal Nasraoui Ebana, his surnames come from Guinean mother Shaila Ebana and father Mounir Nasraoui, who is of Moroccan origin. As a young couple who could not afford much, they began to live with two other people, and fell on hard times, at a certain point they could not pay the rent. As a token of their appreciation for their kindness, they promised to name a child after Lamine and Yamal if they had one, and so it was that Lamine Yamal was named so.
The Spanish international is very much in touch with his roots, and wears the Moroccan and Guinean flag on his boots for Spain. His celebration, making a '305' with his hands, refers to the postal code of the Rocafonda district.
In addition, Bar Canaletes revealed that recently Lamine Yamal invited a group of his friends from Rocafonda to the Ciutat Esportiva training camp in Barcelona, where they enjoyed a kickabout together.
