Barcelona club legend Andres Iniesta hopes to return for a future role in Catalonia.
Iniesta won an incredible nine The league titles at the heart of Barcelona's midfield, along with four UEFA Champions League crowns.
From his first team debut in 2002, until his departure from the club in 2018, Iniesta made 674 appearances in all competitions.
That figure puts him fourth in Barcelona's all-time top scorer list behind three of his former team-mates including Xavi Hernandez.
Iniesta was asked about his views on Xavi's departure from the club at the end of last season with fans still divided over the treatment of his old midfield partner.
He also spoke about his plans for the playing field, without confirming whether he will extend his contract in the United Arab Emirates, before the new season 2024/25 in Ras Al Khaimah.
“Obviously, I would like to return to Barcelona, but I don't know when it will be. My next step after football will be training and we'll see if it works,” he said.
“It's about finding your place off the field. Maybe in two years I'll have a clearer idea, but for now, I don't know.
Iniesta turned 40 in May and if he remains at the Emirates, he is expected to break a record of 900 career games before the end of 2024.
