Ange Postecoglou confirms Richarlison's injury as the Tottenham star was left out of the Brazilian Copa América squad
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has revealed that Richarlison has suffered a calf injury that could end his season.
Spurs will host Burnley on Saturday, live on talkSPORT 2but he will have to do without the striker.
The Brazilian coach, Dorival Junior, confirmed on Friday that richarlison He is not in his squad for the Copa América due to suffering an injury.
And speaking ahead of the Burnley clash, Postecoglou said: “Yesterday, in the last action of training, he suffered a calf injury.
“He's gone for a scan so we'll wait and see what the result is, but he's not available for today.”
Brennan Johnson, Heung-Min Son and Dejan Kulusevski have been Spurs' chosen attacking options, with Dane Scarlett as a substitute striker.
Richarlison was present at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium and was seen limping, but was still available to fly his own flag.
Richarlison has enjoyed much more success in front of goal this season with Spurs compared to his debut campaign.
He scored just three goals in 35 appearances, but this time his tally rises to 12 in 31 games, 11 of them in the league.
However, the 27-year-old recently suffered a knee problem, so his form has not been as good as earlier in the season.
Richarlison came off the bench in the 4-2 defeat to Liverpool last weekend, scoring and assisting in Spurs' fourth consecutive defeat.
It's a run that will need to end quickly as they lose sight of a top-four finish behind Aston Villa, who currently sit in fourth place.
Postecoglou's men are seven points away, although the difference will be reduced to four with the victory over Burnley.
They also have a game in hand against Manchester City, but if Villa beat Liverpool on Monday, qualification for the Champions League will be decided.
However, sealing the Europa League if they finish fifth or sixth would mark an improvement on last season's final ranking of eighth.
