Ange Postecoglou described Tottenham striker Timo Werner's performance against Rangers as “unacceptable”.
Postecoglou's team tied 1-1 with ranger in the Europa League, meaning the Scottish club has yet to beat an English Premier League club in European competition since November 1992.
It was Rangers who scored first in the 47th minute when Hamza Igamane finished off an attractive cross from James Tavernier from the right.
However, Tottenham Dejan Kulusevksi ensured the visitors would leave Ibrox with a point when he scored 15 minutes from time.
Kulusevski started the game on the bench, but was substituted at the start of the second half.
The Swede came in instead of Timo Wernerwhich was virtually ineffective for the first 45 minutes and gave Postecoglou little reason to keep him.
Postecoglou did not mince words about Werner's performance and certainly let the German know.
“I wasn't playing anywhere near the level I should have,” Postecoglou said in his post-match commentary. press conference.
“When you have 18-year-olds, it is not acceptable to me. I told Timo that. He is an absolute international, he is a German international.
“At the moment we're at, it's not like we have much of a choice. I need everyone to at least go out there trying to do their best.
“His performance in the first half was not acceptable.”
Postecoglou added: “We need everyone, including him, to contribute, because we don't have the depth to leave people out if they perform poorly.
“We need them to play their part. Especially the older ones. When I ask the younger ones to do massive jobs.
“I expect a level of performance from some of the older guys and today wasn't that.”
Werner's failure against Rangers meant his goal tally this season stood at just one in 19 appearances in all competitions.
It was far from a perfect performance from Tottenham, whose defensive problems were exposed once again.
In fact, Igamane's goal ensured that Postecoglou's team had kept just one clean sheet in their last 11 games.
Rangers also finished the contest with more shots and shots on goal than their Premier League counterparts despite having 41 per cent possession.
The deployment, especially defensive, left the former Tottenham player Jamie O'Hara feeling like he's “had enough.”
“My patience is wearing thin,” O'Hara said on The Sports Bar.
“Patience is running out. Ange Postecoglou, friend. I've had enough.
“You know, we go on and say, oh yeah, football is cool. Is it? Is it cool?
“I'm not looking at Barcelona. I'm just watching a good team, you know, at times, have some decent moments, but you know, all teams play good football.
“It's not like I'm watching Barcelona play, but I can't defend, but when we have the ball, it's just, you know, it's brilliant to watch. All I'm seeing is a Tottenham team I've seen a million times before. Bored.
“There is nothing special.”
Postecoglou hopes Tottenham's winless streak does not extend into a sixth game on Sunday as they travel to the lowly side. Southampton.
