Ange Postecoglou has explained why he did not sign Ivan Toney, saying he wanted Dominic Solanke more.
Toney has been heavily linked with a move to North London due to uncertainty over his Brentford The future grew throughout the last Premier League campaign.
In the end, Spurs opted to sign Solanke from Bournemouth in a deal worth £65m.
This came after he racked up 21 goals in all competitions for the Cherries last season.
That paved the way for Toney to complete his own lucrative move, joining Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli for a fee of £40million.
Explaining Tottenham's decision not to sign Toney, Postecoglou said: “We looked at it but the reality is Dom (Solanke) is the one I wanted.
“It took us all summer to sign him, but he fit the profile we wanted.”
While Toney hopes to make it big in Saudi Arabia, Solanke is still adjusting to life in north London.

But speaking of Solanke, Postecoglou had only positive things to say.
“He has adapted very well,” Postecoglou said at his pre-match press conference on Friday.
“He has a lot more to offer because he was injured. He has only played two and a half games with us.
“He just needs to play a few games.”
“But from what I've seen in the games he's played, he's going to be a real asset for us.
“I have no doubt that he will be a great contributor.”
