Tottenham Hotspur shared the spoils against Fulham on Sunday first division clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The London giants were outstanding against city of manchester last weekend with a 4-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium. It followed with a 2-2 draw against Roma in the european league where performance was average.
We saw something similar yesterday against Fulham. Pedro Porro was one of the worst players on the Spurs field. The 25-year-old star won 4 of 10 duels, losing possession 17 times, according to sofa score statistics.
He completed only 77% of his attempted passes with 0 long balls. The former Sporting Lisbon player was also dribbled five times and it was a surprise that coach Ange Postecoglou did not replace him.
Required rest
Porro has been a guaranteed starter at right back for Spurs this season. He has started and completed each of the first 13 Premier League games and also featured in 3 of the 5 Europa League games.
The full-back has had a heavy workload in the first half of the campaign and may need a break with the congested schedule ahead. Porro was poor yesterday, but Postecoglou was reluctant to make a change.
The Australian had Djed Spence on the bench replacing Porro. Spence has not lived up to expectations since his move, but Postecoglou should at least consider him as a replacement, as Porro seems jaded.
Archie Gray is the first-line option to replace Porro, but he suffered a dead leg against Fulham. The youngster was substituted just 6 minutes after coming on and could be in doubt to face Bournemouth in midweek.
Spurs will need to improve their performance against the Cherries thanks to successive draws. An away trip could be a blessing in disguise for the London heavyweights after their performance against Manchester City.
Tottenham seem to be under more pressure at home with the expectation of winning every game.
