Ange Postecoglou responds to the journalist while blaming himself for Tottenham's defeat against Chelsea

Ange Postecoglou let his frustrations show after Tottenham's hopes of finishing in the top four were dented by defeat to Chelsea.

The Spurs lost 2-0 far away in the Blues in the Premier League on Thursday night, so their chances of qualifying for the Champions League look slim.

Although they have a game in hand, they are seven points behind Aston Villa as they battle for the crucial fourth place.

It was also Spurs' second London derby defeat in five days following the home defeat against Arsenal last weekend, with Postecoglou admitting that he has to take responsibility for his latest setback.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, he said: “It's not good enough and I have to take responsibility for that, it's up to me.

“I'm the manager, I'm the one putting them there and it wasn't good enough. Like I said, I have to look at myself in all of this and see how I can have more of an impact.”

He added: “When we put in a performance like we did in the first half it obviously means that my message is not getting through, that's something I need to address.”

Postecoglou was then asked what his message was and gave a snappy response when a top-four finish starts to look out of reach.

He responded: “Come on buddy, we didn't play well. What do you want, for me to sit here and write you a file of what we did wrong?”

“Like I said, I take responsibility, we were bad in the first half. I still think their (first) goal was a foul, but nobody cares about that. But we didn't deserve anything more than that, and that's all about me. “

Spurs enjoyed an excellent start under Postecoglou as they went unbeaten in their first ten league games this season.

Chelsea were the first team to beat them and did so in a 4-1 victory in north London, which started a bad run.

After five games without a win, including four more defeats, Spurs fought back and continued to establish themselves as contenders for Champions League qualification.

However, now there are three consecutive defeats that leave their chances in the balance, with Chelsea completing the league with a double advantage over them.

Trevoh Chalobah opened the scoring in the first half before a late Nicolas Jackson header sealed the deal at Stamford Bridge, with Spurs well off the pace on the night.
