Cameron Archer says Aston Villa are working hard on building relationships within the team after the opening game of the club’s USA tour.
All of Villa’s summer signings featured in the friendly defeat to Columbus Crew in Ohio, with Amadou Onana and Ian Maatsen making their first outings in claret and blue.
Archer feels the team’s trio of games Stateside are an opportunity to forge chemistry on the pitch.
Speaking after Saturday night’s clash, he said: “They’re a very good team. We need to learn, progress and keep getting fitter.
“We’ve got new players and we need to build chemistry on the pitch.
“We need to develop those relationships and find out what each player’s strengths are.
“It’s pre-season and that’s part and parcel of it.”
Archer notched his side’s goal at Lower.com Field, producing a smart finish in the first half to delight the Villans in the stands.
The striker’s objective is to keep doing what he does best and find the back of the net in upcoming games against RB Leipzig and Club América in the USA.
“I’m always aiming to score one or more goals and I could have had a second,” he reflected.
“I’m happy with my goal and hopefully there’s more to come.”
Archer added: “We have amazing support all around the world and it’s great to see them turn out for the game.
“Hopefully the support will continue like this for the rest of the tour.”
