Liverpool can win their second Premier League title in Arne Slot's first season at Anfield.

This is the view of Dutch football legend Johnny Rep, who backs Slot to do “big things” on Merseyside.

Slot will replace outgoing Reds boss Jurgen Klopp in the summer with Liverpool agreeing a compensation deal worth more than £9m with Feyenoord for the 45-year-old.

It is a difficult task to replace Klopp, who has won every trophy available at Liverpool, including the Champions League and his first Premier League, but former Dutch winger Rep believes Slot It will have an immediate impact.

“Arne has what it takes to fill Klopp's big boots and is likely to win the Premier League in his first year,” Rep said. Sun.

But Rep, a two-time European Cup winner with Ajax and a key member of the Dutch team in their 1974 and 1978 World Cup campaigns, suggested Slot can bring 'total football' to Anfield.

The representative added: “Arne was influenced by Johan Cruyff's Total Football and, as a consequence, he loves to prepare his teams to attack and goes forward with many players.

“But while the offensive side of his game is what stands out, his teams are also adept at defense.

“He will also improve Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch and bring along some Feyenoord players.”
