Royal Society they have completed their mission to maintain Martin Zubimendi for the 2024/25 season.
La Real worked overtime to keep their midfield lynchpin after the Premier League giants Liverpool have begun an ambitious move to bring him to Anfield.
Amid major speculation about the saga in San Sebastian and Merseyside, Zubimendi has been open to considering a move away from the Basque Country for the first time in his career.
However, with Liverpool set to trigger his €60m release clause, the Spain international has opted to make the move.
With the move now over, Arne Slot offered an update on how the transfer race has played out from his position as he looks at other options to improve his squad.
“Unfortunately, Zubimendi decided not to come, Richard Hughes tried everything to persuade him, but if a player doesn't want to come, there's nothing you can do,” he said.
Liverpool remain the only Premier League side to have yet to bring in a new player on a permanent deal this summer with Slot aiming to fill gaps in their panel, ahead of a grueling campaign.
