Arne Slot provides update on Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold's injury

“It is difficult to say how serious it is, but it is always serious if a player comes out in the first half. Not because I didn't like him, but because he asked for it himself. He didn't ask for it because he was tired, he asked for it because he felt something. First of all, this is not a good sign, but it is always difficult to say exactly what is so close after the game. Let's wait and see. “I would be surprised if we saw him play for the England team this week, but I hope he can.”
What's next for Liverpool and TAA?
Arne Slot's verdict on Trent Alexander-Arnold is certainly worrying, not least because the England international has no capable back-up. Conor Bradley is likely to step in for the foreseeable future, but he has much less experience compared to the team's main right-back.
And while more evidence would be needed to conclude the extent of the damage Alexander-Arnold has suffered, it would not be a surprise if he missed close to a month of action. That said, the injury also comes at the wrong time for Liverpool, as they face real Madrid and Manchester City later in November.
Meanwhile, now is the perfect opportunity for Conor Bradley to step up for two specific reasons. The first is to obviously demonstrate that he can be a reliable option behind Trent Alexander-Arnold, but the second, and more importantly, to signal to Arne Slot that the right-back position can remain in good hands even if Alexander-Arnold leaves the club.
It will be interesting to see what the medical staff have to say about Alexander-Arnold's injury and how Slot will cope with the absence of a very important player over the coming weeks.
