Arsenal Lutsharel Geertruida has been identified as a new summer transfer objective but face a battle with Liverpool to get Feyenoord's right back, according to a Spanish media, Transfers.
The 23-year-old went through Feyenoord's famous Varkenoord academy and has since established himself as the team's undisputed starter, since making his debut in 2017.
According Transfers, The race for the Dutch International has intensified and Arsenal have indicated their interest in signing him this summer. However the first division The giants face competition as Liverpool are also showing strong interest in Geertruida, while Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain are also in the running.
The report adds that Geertruida fits perfectly into Mikel Arteta'Next season' plans and Arsenal are set to make a bid for the Dutch full-back as they look to outbid their rivals for his signature.
Liverpool also have a strong interest in the 23-year-old, with Arne Slot looking to reunite with the ten-capped Netherlands international. The Reds are looking to sign the defender to bolster their defense and provide tactical flexibility to the new head coach, according to the report.
Geertruida's contract at De Kuip is set to expire next summer with an estimated fee of £32 million, according to the report.
Liverpool and Arsenal fight for Geertruida
The winger was a key member of Arne Slot's side that only finished behind Eredivisie winners PSV Eindhoven, contributing 13 goals in 34 games for De Club aan de Maas.
He was also part of the Feyenoord team that defeated Ajax to win the Eredivisie title in the 2022-23 season and also won the KNVB Cup in the just-concluded season.
Joining a high-flying Arsenal team that is inching closer to the Premier League title would be a solid option, providing defensive solidity and offensive performance to Arteta's side.
Liverpool, on the other hand, are also a viable option and by reuniting with his former manager, Slot could give the Reds a slight advantage in securing the winger's services.
Geertruida could prove a shrewd signing for either club if he joins and his £32m valuation would prove a bargain if either club made a move on him.
