Arsenal have been in talks with Real Sociedad for some time about the midfielder Mikel Merinoand it looks like the deal is nearing completion. The 27-year-old has told La Real that he wants to move to London, and has already agreed terms with the Gunners.
Txuri-Urdin offered Merino a new contract, but he ignored that offer, and as such La Real are forced to sell or lose him for free next summer, with just one year left on his deal. According to Matteo Moretto, Arsenal they are close to reaching a final agreement for Merino, which will be worth around 30 million euros, but could rise to 35 million euros including variables.
At the end of July, Arsenal verbally told Real Sociedad that they would pay €30M + bonuses (almost €35M in total) for Mikel Merino.
I had to be a little patient and the written offer would arrive.
And these days, the English club wants to go to the end… https://t.co/OOfsmjW1xb

This is confirmed by Marcothat quote a report from El Diario Vasco, saying that the talks are in the last stretch, and check those figures.
Given his contract situation, La Real will undoubtedly consider it a good deal for Merino, if he can get over the line. They have been in talks with Arsenal for several weeks over a deal, with initial figures suggested at just €25 million. It's still some way off his €65 million release clause, and his value on a long-term contract, but they're about to make around €20 million on Merino after six excellent seasons .
