Arsenal are one of four teams showing an interest in the left-back this summer – and why a move hasn't happened
Girona, left side Miguel Gutierrez he was undoubtedly one of the best in the division last season and it was no surprise that he attracted significant interest from other teams during the summer. However, it was more of a pleasant surprise that Girona managed to hang on to him.
Gutierrez, 23, not only scored a brace against Barcelona and provided 9 assists last year, but also played an important role for Spain at the Olympics as they brought home a medal d gold. At the beginning of the summer, it was very linked with an exit, and Matteo Moretto revealed that Bologna made an offer for him.
However Gutierrez was not 100% convinced about a move Bolognaand decided it was better to continue his growth in Girona this year, where he will also be a starter in the Champions League. Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen have also expressed an interest in Gutierrez, but none have gone so far as to make a bid.
Real Madrid also hold an €8m purchase option on Gutierrez, or a 50% sell-on clause, which will likely see them make a profit at some point. It is unlikely that he will play again, however, with Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia already there, and Alphonso Davies will come in next summer.
