Arsenal Inter Milan have shown interest in signing centre-back Yann Bisseck in January in a deal that could involve Takehiro Tomiyasu, according to Italian outlet EntreVivo.
Bisseck joined the Nerazzurri from Danish side Aarhus GF last summer and impressed in his first season in the Italian top flight, where he made 16 appearances and 21 overall in all competitions.
However, the Germany Under-21 international has found himself further down the pecking order this season and has not played since the opening day clash against Genoa, where his handball in the penalty area led to Genoa's last-minute equaliser.
According to EntreVivoArsenal are 'pushing harder' to secure the permanent signing of the 23-year-old but face competition from several other sides across Europe.
Bisseck is very popular with the Gunners manager Mikel Artetawho is not entirely satisfied with his central defence department, according to the report.
The Italian publication adds that the north London club are reportedly considering offering Takehiro Tomiyasu as part of any deal to sign Bisseck this winter. The Italian champions have been linked with Tomiyasu in the past, so could be open to a swap deal.
Arsenal sign Inter youngster
However, if the Gunners' proposal to sign Tomiyasu for Inter does not materialise, the club would consider selling him elsewhere and have earmarked Bisseck as a replacement with a possible €25m (£21m) bid in the winter. transfer window, according to the report.
With Bisseck's contract at San Siro running until 2028, EntreVivo claims the €25m (£21m) offer would not be enough to convince the Italian giants to sell. Not only that, but Bisseck may be reluctant to move to the Emirates Stadium due to a lack of first-team opportunities as he will be behind Guillermo Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes.
However, Bisseck's exceptional qualities should not be underestimated, as the German defender is currently one of the best young defensive gems in Europe. His standout performances include man-of-the-match performances against Lecce and Bologna last season, in which he demonstrated his ability to rise to the occasion and lead the defensive line.
While he is not yet the finished product, developing under Mikel Arteta would give the Gunners another defensive ace who could develop into a world-class player under the lights at the Emirates if the club successfully sign the youngster.
