Arsenal fans believe Kai Havertz had the last laugh by outplaying Didier Drogba in seven of nine Premier League seasons.

Kai Havertz has officially surpassed Didier Drogba's tally in seven of the nine seasons he played for Chelsea in the Premier League.

But amid the Gunners' disappointment at failing to clinch the Premier League trophy for the first time since 2004, their fans have been keen to point out a statistic from their season.

The German signed from London rivals Chelsea last summer in a deal worth £65m and was very successful at the start of the season failing to score until his tenth appearance for Arsenal.

Now, Arsenal fans are comparing his goal tally with Chelsea's third-highest scorer in history, Drogba, to prove that in their eyes he was a good signing after all.

There has been plenty of back-and-forth between fans of the two teams over the German, who divided opinions during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Blues supporters have mixed opinions about the midfielder's time at Stamford Bridge, with a section of the fan base unable to forget their frustration at his missed opportunities when leading their line.

Posting a photo of him and his fiancée, Sophia Weber, he wrote: “Where do I start? My first season has been one that has helped me grow as a person and a player in many ways.”

“Very grateful for all the support this season, from fans, staff and my teammates.

“It will take time to process everything, but I know that with this club we can achieve great things.”
