Martin Keown believes Arne Slot's Liverpool could become even better than Jurgen Klopp's title-winning side.
The red ones legendary boss klopp He left in the summer after a brilliant nine-year spell that included successes in the Premier League and Champions League.
Slot was announced as his successor and, understandably, there would have been doubts about the team's future after a dramatic regime change.
However, any doubts were quickly dispelled as the Reds have won all but one of their 11 matches in all competitions so far this season under their new manager.
Liverpool's last victory came in a Local victory 2-1 over Chelsea on Sunday, a victory that maintained their seat at the top of the Premier League table.
Slot's excellent start to life in the Anfield dugout continued, and a certain Arsenal legend is impressed.
invincible hero Keown believes that Slot's team could even surpass Klopp's victorious red team.
“I expected Liverpool to start well,” he said on Monday. White and Jordan program on talkSPORT.
“If I go back to last season, it was a three-horse race for the title until Klopp suddenly said, 'I'm leaving the building,' Klopp's mime no longer resonated and they just fell off a cliff.
“This was a good group, there was a restructuring of the team that was going after it again, (Dominik) Szoboszlai, (Ryan) Gravenberch, (Cody) Gakpo, (Luis) Díaz, (Darwin) Núñez, all the main signings. I spent a lot money.
“They were set up for success and then they lost that love with the coach,” he said.
“Let's not take anything away from Klopp, because this is the basis of what Klopp has created.
“But this new kid has come in and he's smart, he's a good communicator and he's getting very good results.
“He knows he didn't need to buy in the summer because everything was ready to go.”
Jim White then asked: “So from Arsenal's perspective, do you fear them now?”
Keown admitted: “Of course, and I did it anyway at the start of the season, I knew it would be a three-horse race.
“I like the way it's a bit more controlled, you know, you could have said: 'Maybe it was a bit crazy, Klopp', but this is calmer. I like the way the coach communicates.”
“Is this a better version of the Liverpool we're seeing now?” White then asked, and Keown responded, “Maybe.
“I think Klopp enriches them and then when a new man comes into the building there is often a really great leader who comes out of the building and then everyone else takes over because it is still a good journey.
“And I think that's what I'm seeing in Liverpool, an incredible atmosphere, a very good game yesterday against a good Chelsea team, and everyone having the opportunity to do well.
“Curtis Jones was improving and hasn't started many games, but he's getting there and he was brilliant yesterday.”
Jones won Mohamed Salah's penalty kick and then scored Liverpool's winning goal against Chelsea.
The Reds are one point ahead of unbeaten defending champions Manchester City with eight Premier League games played.
Liverpool also have the best defense in the league with only three goals conceded, and their only loss of the season was a 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest.
There have also been two victories in the Champions League stage against Italian teams AC Milan and Bologna.
Slot's next team will face RB Leipzig away from home in the competition on Wednesday night, live on talkSPORT, and could extend their season win total to an excellent 11.
They will then return to Premier League action on Sunday against title rivals Arsenal, where victory would leave them seven points ahead of the Gunners.
