Arsenal look to sign 18-year-old Palmeiras centre-back Vitor Reis
Arsenal are in battle with a host of major European clubs, including real Madridfor the signing of Palmeiras' 18-year-old centre-back, Vitor Reis, according to the athletic.
The 18-year-old rose to prominence at the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Indonesia, where his spectacular performances at the back helped Brazil reach the semi-finals of the competition.
Having come through the ranks at Palmeiras, the youngster has become a regular in the club's first team and has made a huge impression with 11 appearances so far in the Brazilian Serie A.
According the athleticArsenal have consulted with Palmeiras and the player's team about a possible move to north London. However, the Gunners face competition as Real Madrid have also held initial talks to bring the player to Spain.
Furthermore, the report adds that first division giants Chelsea and Liverpoolas well as leaders of the LaLiga table Barcelona – have also shown interest in signing the Brazilian jewel, so a fierce battle could ensue.
Following the expiration of his previous contract in February 2027, the athletic reports that Reis has extended his contract to remain with the green and white until December 2028 with a €100m (£83m) release clause.
Although the 12-time Brazilian champions have not set a transfer valuation of the player, they intend to keep him in the club until the conclusion of the Club World Cup in 2025, according to reports.

The Brazilian market has produced some of the best players in the world over the years.
In particular, Palmeiras has produced some of the best Brazilian talent to appear in Europe's top leagues in recent times.
The likes of Arsenal Gabriel JesusMadrid's Endrick, Estevao Willian, who is heading to Chelsea, and western ham Luis Guilherme, from United, are all protégés of the club that has become one of the best talent factories in the world.
Reis could potentially be the next Brazilian gem to appear on European football's biggest stages, with his respectable performances and maturity at 18 years of age making him an attractive defender for clubs such as Arsenal.
The north Londoners currently have a contingent of Brazilian players in their squad, so adjusting to life in England will not be a daunting task for the teenager if he completes his trip to the Emirates.
