Arsenal could soon need a defensive midfielder with Thomas Partey's contract in its final year and no intention on the part of the club to offer the Ghanaian new terms.
Football365 has reported that Mikel Arteta wants to bring in Aurelien Tchouameni as a replacement for Partey. The Spaniard has been said to be “in love” with the real Madrid superstar, who was the subject of interest of Liverpool Earlier this summer.
Tchouameni, Valued at £84m on Transfermarktremains happy at Real Madrid, however, according to Fabrizio Romano (via Football365) and does not plan to leave the Spanish capital anytime soon.
Arsenal could still sign Tchouameni
In just two years of his Real Madrid career, Aurelien Tchouameni has won every possible plaudits and the 24-year-old could therefore already welcome a new challenge with a budding young team like Arsenal, especially if Mikel Arteta can get his proposal across to the Frenchman.
An £84m price tag for a player who was unbeaten when he started a game for his club in 2023/24 is a reasonable price, especially when he is also among the best players in the world in his position.
As well as being an excellent midfielder, the French international will be able to adapt easily to Arteta's system as he is a skilled passer with the ability to carry the ball forward as well.
Tchouameni's advantage is a powerful shot from outside the box, something England know well from the 2022 World Cup semi-final against his national team.
However, if Tchouameni is open to a move to England, Arsenal will certainly face competition as Liverpool could also rekindle interest in him, given that they have been keen on the player since his time at AS Monaco.
While a move seems unlikely at the moment, such a possibility cannot be ruled out in 2025.
