Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur were one of the clubs interested in signing Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze this summer after his 11 goals and four assists in the Premier League in 2023/24.
Newcastle United There was also talk that he would be in the picture, but the Magpies, like their north London counterparts, decided not to make a concrete move for him.
Palace chairman Steve Parish said: He was 'amazed' that there was no interest in the 26-year-old, but at the same time, those at the club will be relieved that another of their key players has not followed in the footsteps of Michael Olise by leaving Selhurst Park in the same transfer window.
Daily Mail (via Caught Offside) reported that Eze “will be available” for £68m next year and his release clause will be reactivated during the summer transfer window.
The report adds that £60m would be payable in fixed income to Palace, while a further £8m would be paid in add-ons, although the Eagles are open to negotiating a price separate from the release clause.
Arsenal and Spurs are expected to be interested in signing Eze next year, so the north London giants could be in the running for his signature in 2025.
Eze, a top signing
Eberechi Eze is one of the best players in the Premier League and it is only a matter of time before he moves to a bigger club. Given that he will turn 27 in June next year, he may not want to delay his progression much longer.
Arsenal and Tottenham would both benefit from a quality signing in midfield, but it remains to be seen whether the Gunners can convince him to join the club with Martin Odegaard playing in Eze's preferred role.
The Norwegian is a key piece in Mikel ArtetaEze's starting XI and therefore his career at the Emirates could start as a secondary option. While he can also play on the right wing, the competition would be just as fierce. Bukayo Saka He is a regular in Arsenal's starting line-up.
However, at Spurs he would be guaranteed a first-team place, either on the right flank or in an advanced midfield role alongside James Maddison, so the Lilywhites could be a more attractive destination for him than Arsenal.
Newcastle United could also flex their financial muscles in trying to sign Eze, but if the player's sporting ambitions outweigh his financial goals, he wouldn't really look beyond two young and promising teams like Arsenal and Tottenham for his next move.
