Arsenal must prove they can win football's biggest prizes if they are to keep William Saliba at the club.
The French star is considered one of the best defenders in world football and has been identified as one of the top transfer targets for real Madrid next summer.
With Antonio Rudiger, Eder Militao and David Alaba at the club, carlo anceloti is interested in adding a younger option to its ranks who can be a defensive pillar in the coming years.
Alongside Gabriel Magalhaes, Saliba has been one of the Premier League's most consistent players in a Gunners team that has come so close to Premier League glory over the past two seasons.
But with pressure mounting to win the Premier League or Champions League, Tony Cascarino believes Arsenal Now they must prove they can match the 23-year-old's ambitions or risk losing him to one of the biggest clubs in world football.
Speaking on talkSPORT Breakfast, Cascarino said: “There are vultures in football that hover over football clubs all the time and try to take away their best players.
“There is no bigger vulture than Real Madrid; If they chase you, there's a good chance it will happen.
“It's not just about convincing the player, but the agents and the attractiveness of Real Madrid are involved.
“Look, winning and being successful is a great way to retain players, it really is.
“Arsenal have to achieve it because Saliba is playing at the level of a Real Madrid player, but they have to be convinced that Arsenal will be a successful and winning team.
“They have to be defiant to win the Champions League because that's what Real Madrid does very often.”
“I think we're all replaceable to some extent,” Cascarino added.
“We are talking about a very high level and once Real Madrid is interested in you, you know that this is the team that wins the Champions League most of the time.
“When they chase you, Arsenal have a problem.
“He just signed a five-year deal about a year ago, so they've got him tied up for quite some time, but they might have to offer him another new deal to try to keep him even longer.
“It's going to be a problem, but it's great for Arsenal as a football club because it shows that they are having success because a club like Real Madrid wants one of their players.”
Next in action will be Arsenal on Saturday when they take on Bournemouth on the south coast, with commentary exclusively live on talkSPORT.
