Arsenal star Jorginho names his five best Premier League players and latest choice leaves interviewer stunned
Arsenal star Jorginho stunned an interviewer with his pick of the top five current Premier League players.
The midfielder would be considered well placed to create a credible selection list, having spent almost six years in the English top flight.
The Italian signed for Chelsea Coming from Napoli in 2018, he helped the Blues to Champions League success in 2021 before moving to north London 12 months ago.
Despite failing to become a regular under manager Mikel Arteta, Jorginho has earned praise of late thanks to an excellent performance in the Gunners' 3-1 victory over their title rivals. Liverpool.
Following their heroics, Jorginho revealed which current Premier League stars are head and shoulders above the rest, with one surprising inclusion.
Unsurprisingly, the 32-year-old selected Manchester City's star duo: Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland who played a crucial role in Pep Guardiola's team that won a historic treble last season.
The Liverpool striker was also included. Mohamed Salah who is once again enjoying a stellar season for the Reds in their quest to overtake City and Arsenal to the title of this season.
Jorginho stayed closer to home for his next choice, opting for teammate Bukayo Saka. The England international's form has improved since last month's winter break and his four goals in his last three games have guaranteed him a place over Man City midfielder Rodri.
The Italian's fifth and final choice was the most controversial of all with the inclusion of former Chelsea teammate Reece James.
In fact, the interviewer, who works for JD Football, was visibly stunned and asked Jorginho if he was sure.
The Blues captain has been plagued by injuries over the past 18 months and is currently recovering from a hamstring problem.
An injury forced him to miss the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and fears are growing that James could also be a doubt for this summer's European Championship.
But that didn't stop Jorginho from paying tribute to the 24-year-old defender and revealing that he would choose James over Liverpool. Trent Alexander-Arnold.
“Believe me,” Jorginho said before being asked if James was superior to the Liverpool star.
“A little different, but if I had to choose for my team, I would choose Reece. I think he is more complete in everything.
“Trent has these passes and shots that are incredible, so they are a little different. But overall I chose Reece.”
