An Arsenal statement on the 27-year-old read: “Gabriel Jesus misses out today due to a slight groin problem.”

It is the sixth injury to keep him out of action in the last two years, after suffering blows to the knee and hamstring.

In total, Jesus He has been out for 184 days due to injuries, excluding his current problem, which has forced him to miss 33 games for club and country.

His final blow could see the boss Mikel Arteta forced to sign a new striker before the window closes next week.

talkSPORT reported earlier in the week that striker Eddie Nketiah is heading to Nottingham Forest in a deal Worth around £30 million.

If Jesus is out for a while and Nketiah is sold, Kai Havertz would be left as the club's only centre-forward.

Before Jesus' injury, it was understood that Arsenal had no plans to strengthen their attacking options.

Although now everything could change depending on the severity of Jesus' blow.

Arsenal face Villa in the Midlands on Saturday at 5.30pm CET and will be looking to exact revenge on Unai Emery's men.

The north Londoners lost twice to the Villans last season, missing out on their first Premier League title since 2004 by two points to Manchester City.
