Arsenal they are supposedly interested in signing real Madrid the marginalized Arda Guler, according to Spanish media Transfers.
The 19-year-old, who joined Los Blancos from Fenerbahce last year, initially had injury problems. After returning to full fitness, he showed flashes of his qualities in La Liga in the second half of last season.
However, following the arrival of Kylian Mbappé last summer, the youngster has found it difficult to break into Carlo Ancelotti's starting XI so far this season.
Now, Transfers claims that after the success of signing Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid, Arsenal are looking to replicate the same with Guler in the upcoming January window.
Although so far this season they have not managed to give the midfielder the usual first team football, the white team does not want him to leave the club for the moment. But, if the Gunners make a move and Guler pushes to go and play regularly, then a deal could be done next year.
Güler to Arsenal
The Turkish international is valued at around £37m according to Transfer market and has a contract until 2029 with Real Madrid. Ancelotti's team are therefore in a strong position to demand a large sum if they are forced to cash in on him in January.
Despite not finding regular playing time at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, Guler has been a key player for his country. He is a versatile player as he can play in any position in the attacking midfield and is also efficient in the box-to-box role.
Following the departure of Fabio Vieira to Porto last summer, Arsenal have Odegaard as the only option to fill the CAM role. So amid the Norwegian's recent injury absence, Leandro Trossard was used in this role to fill his void, but the Belgian feels more comfortable on the wing.
Guler is a highly talented player and has the potential to become a world-class midfielder in the future. He is technically sound, can make passes between the lines, has an eye for long-distance passes, can dribble past opposing defenders in tight areas and also has the ability to score goals from distance.
It will be interesting to see if the north London club finally manages to lure him away from the Spanish giants next year to strengthen the midfield department.
