Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga has joined La Liga side Sevilla on a season-long loan.
The Athletic reported last week that Lokonga was to undergo a medical ahead of the move, which has now been confirmed with Sevilla holding an option to buy for a fee in the region of €12million (£10m).
If Sevilla activate the purchase option, Arsenal will keep a 25 per cent sell-on clause of any future move Lokonga makes.
Lokonga had been keen to move to Spain, which gave Sevilla an advantage over other interested parties such as Serie A’s Fiorentina.
The 24-year-old spent last season on loan at Luton Town and won plaudits for his performances despite only making 19 appearances due to various injuries.
Lokonga has played 39 times for Arsenal since joining from Anderlecht in the summer of 2021. He previously spent the second half of the 2022-23 campaign on loan at Crystal Palace, featuring in nine games.
Sevilla finished 14th in La Liga last season. Francisco Pimienta was appointed as the club’s new head coach in June following the departure of Quique Sanchez Flores.
