Ashley Young offers update on Everton future amid upcoming contract expiry

Ashley Young says he wants to play for Everton for one more season before his current contract expires.

The former Manchester United player signed for the candies last summer on a one-year deal after leaving Aston Villa as a free agent.

“Regardless of what everyone offered me, I'm always happy to sign a new contract. I've enjoyed my time this season, being there with the players and staff, it's fantastic, a huge club and I'd love to come back and play another season.” there.”

Young has been part of an Everton team that had a total of eight points deducted for breaching the Premier League's sustainability and profit rules.

The deductions raised fears over whether or not they would avoid relegation, but the Toffees finished in 15th place and 14 points clear of the drop.

“It's been tough,” Young reflected. “I think internally we've said that as a team, as a team, we can't let point deductions get in the way of what we're trying to do this season.

“It was difficult at times, I think we went through the Christmas period, right after the points deduction, and I think when we got points back it was another difficult period.

“But I think we showed everyone on the outside that the togetherness we have as a team is something you just can't buy, you just can't have that. As a team, everyone sticks together.

Young also waxed lyrical about the Everton boss Sean Dyche and its impact on the entire squad during a season full of uncertainty.
