Aston Villa has closed a very intense day of transfers with the arrival of Ross Barkley from Luton Town.
Barkley, who was on loan for the 2020/2021 season in townThis Monday he became the club's third signing, after the arrivals of Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea from the Juventus.
The duo was part of the deal which saw Douglas Luiz sign for the Italian giants in a deal worth around £44m (€50m).
And Villa have since announced the signing of Barkley, who had been heavily linked with a return to the Birmingham-based club after Luton were relegated last season.
Villa fans know Barkley well, who arrived from Chelsea in September 2020 on loan for the season.
In his debut he starred in a famous 7-2 victory over Liverpool where he scored, as well as combining excellently with Jack Grealishwho scored two goals and Olivia Watkinswho scored a hat-trick.
A statement on Villa's website read: “Aston Villa are delighted to announce the signing of Ross Barkley from Luton Town.
“Barkley returns to Villa Park on a permanent basis having enjoyed a loan spell in burgundy and blue during the 2020/21 season.
“He began his career in Evertonrising through the ranks at Goodison Park before being signed by Chelsea in 2018.
“With 33 caps for England under his belt, the midfielder has also represented OGC Nice in France.”
While Villa could have made plenty of signings earlier in the month, they had already confirmed two transfers beforehand.
Ian Maatsen joined last month from Chelsea for £37.5m to bolster their backline after helping Borussia Dortmund reach the Champions League final last season.
Aston Villa have spotted academy star Omari Kellyman go to stamford bridge for a price of 19 million pounds.
A deal was also finalised for Everton prospect Lewis Dobbin with Tim Iroegbunam. going in the opposite direction.
As well as Luiz and Iroegbunam, Villa also saw Morgan Sanson leave for OGC Nice, where he was on loan last season.
