Aston Villa's social media post amid England's 2-2 draw against Belgium on Tuesday night has divided opinion among fans.
At the beginning of the match, Youri Tielemans put the visitors ahead: the first thanks to a Jordan Pickford's massive mistake – and scored again before the end of the first 45 minutes and this seemed to be celebrated by the Premier League team.
as a Aston Villa player, the football club was understandably happy to see him prosper for his country.
In addition to reposting clips of the two goals, they uploaded a photo of Tielemans celebrating with the caption: “DU DU DU DU DU DU DU YOURI TIELEMANSSS.”
It has divided opinion among fans, some of whom believe an English club should not celebrate goals against its own country.
But others simply thought those followers needed to get a life if a couple of tweets had triggered them.
One fan asked: “Why is an Aston Villa account rooting for Belgium?”
And this fan added: “I'm all for supporting our players when they play for their countries and Youri did very well, but an English club celebrating a goal against England like that is too much.”
While another said: “They fire the manager in the morning.”
However, not everyone agreed with one fan's response: “Big props for a brilliant performance.”
A second wrote: “Respect to Villa for showing their support for their players. For me the club is more than the country any day.”
And another said: “Why is everyone acting like it's an England account and not a club account? The club pays Youri not Southgate etc, it's their job to talk about it.”
One fan summed it up: “The amount of grown adults upset about this is hilarious. Up the Villa.”
In Villa's defense, they had released information on all of their players in international action during the week.
That included Ollie Watkins, who started against Brazil on Saturday night and came off the bench against Belgium.
Ezri Konsa also received a message, congratulating the defender on making his full England debut on Tuesday night.
And also that of the young striker Morgan Rogers, who scored two goals for the England U21 team against Luxembourg in the 7-0 victory.
That night, Jude Bellingham rescued an equalizer for England in the fourth minute of added time at Wembley to mark the end of the March international break.
