João Felix could be given an extra break Atletico Madrid to resolve their future.

The Portugal international was due to return to pre-season training tomorrow after an extended season following Euro 2024.

However, his future still seems to be far from Madrid, with former team Benfica working on an ambitious deal to resign for the 2024/25 campaign.

Benfica won't pay close to Atletico Madrid's €80 million price tag with the Rojiblancos likely to accept a major loss on the 24-year-old.

Premier League side Aston Villa are also in talks with Felix on a possible move to England ahead of their first UEFA Champions League campaign.

Villa is confident of putting forward a stronger package than Benfica and reports from Brand claim that he will be granted extra time to complete an exit.

Atletico Madrid kick off their pre-season campaign against Numancia on July 27 before returning to Hong Kong next month.
