Aymeric Laporte rejects rumors that he almost joined Real Madrid

Real Madrid did not make a summer transfer offer Aymeric Laporte according to the defender.

The Spain international was linked with a move away from Saudi Arabia despite being contracted to Al Nassr until 2026.

Speculation was sparked in August, with Los Blancos concerned about injuries and fitness options in central defence, and Laporte became a rumored option.

Laporte's impressive performances in Spain's run to Euro 2024 glory put him on the radar of Europe's top clubs, but nothing has developed.

Real Madrid was only open to a free transferIf Laporte could secure a release from his contract at Al Nassr, but the 30-year-old indicated those links were false.

“There was nothing, no approach,” Laporte said Marco ahead of Spain's UEFA Nations League clash in Switzerland tomorrow.

However, Laporte does not rule out a future return to Europe, as he reiterates his position that he is not completely happy in the Middle East.

“In Saudi Arabia I am far from my normal environment and family. I may consider in the future to return to Europe. If an offer comes, it must be examined,” he added.

Spain were held 0-0 in Serbia in their opening Nations League match as European championswith Laporte completing 90 minutes for La Roja, and is expected to keep his starting place in Geneva.
