New Aston Villa Women loan signing Jill Baijings says she’s excited to be joining the club after completing a move from Bayern Munich.
The 23-year-old won the Frauen Bundesliga in her debut season at the German giants, making 14 league appearances in midfield.
Baijings, who has won eight caps for the Netherlands, can’t wait to take the next step in her career in England.
“It’s a really big club and the right club for me to develop myself,” she said.
“After four years in Germany, I think it’s good to play in a new league against new teams.
“Everything is new for me – the league is new, the teams are new, so I want to be important to the team and to help the team.
“I want to be an important player.”
Baijings’ season at Bayern Munich was preceded by one at Bayer Leverkusen and two at SGS Essen, whom she joined from Heerenveen in her homeland.
The Dutch international now hopes to be a big part of Villa’s exploits in the upcoming Super League season.
She said: “I’m really excited and I can’t wait to start. I’m looking forward to seeing the team and meeting my new teammates on the field.
“Also the fans in the stadium, I can’t wait to start.”
On her playing style, Baijings added: “I’m a really strong midfielder, who is strong on the ball, and I like to play in-between the lines, like an eight or a ten.
“I have a really good shot from distance with my left foot.”
