Barcelona are looking for a new pivot in the midfield, but it seems unlikely to happen Everton and the Senegalese international Amadou Onana. The 22-year-old has been in Barcelona's sights for some time now, but it looks like he will be out of their reach financially.
Earlier this year, it was reported that manager Xavi Hernandez had chosen Onana as his preferred option for central midfield, and Sport say that the Blaugrana were willing to pay 45 million euros for him. However, BILD reports that Everton will not consider letting him go, even if they are open to a sale, for less than 60 million euros. The likes of Manchester United and Arsenal have also been linked with Onana, and may be willing to pay more than the odds for the impressive youngster.
This news is accompanied by the fact that Barcelona increases its interest in Mats Wieffer, although he will face stiff competition from Atletico Madrid for him as well. He is still thought to be a cheaper alternative, however, and the Blaugrana will try to cut as many corners as possible this summer when it comes to summer moves.
