Barcelona is likely to lose the 18-year-old striker Marco Guiu to Chelsea, with the Premier League team having to pay his release clause of 6 million euros. Guiu has made seven appearances for the first team this season, and scored twice, including a winner against Athletic Club on his debut.
The teenager has been linked with a loan move to another La Liga side this summer, with Barcelona looking to keep him. They have offered him a new deal – his current one expires in 2025 – but have not received a response so far.

Ace for Jijantes, way Sport, Bayern Munich are also in the running for his signature, but positive talks with Chelsea over the weekend have him close to a move to London. Guiu is about to accept personal terms with them.
As a general rule, Barcelona have been reasonably successful in keeping their young talents in recent years, but as finances continue to bite hard, they will continue to rely on a certain sense of sentimentality from their youngsters, since they don't have the money to compete with the likes of Chelsea. While they obviously prefer to keep Guiu in case he becomes a star, at least a fee of 6 million euros will help their accounts in the short term.
