Barcelona they have been dealing with major salary caps and financial problems since the Covid-19 pandemic, but rather than selling players, the Blaugrana have chosen to sell assets rather than selling. However, that will change this summer.
Lionel Messi, of course, is the most infamous case of his financial situation forcing him to choose between players, while the release clause of Ousmane Dembele for 50 million euros to Paris Saint-Germain was his biggest sale. However, this approach will be completed next summer, say Sport. They say the club has asked the Sporting Director Deco to make big sales next summer. They have set him a target of €80 million to bring in, with Frenkie de Jong, Eric Garcia, Andreas Christensen and Pablo Torre all expected to leave.
Barcelona is calm when it comes to Nico Williams, who is attracting interest from several big clubs such as Bayern Munich. They know firsthand that he would prefer to go to Barça. @sport pic.twitter.com/PiMhZtsq1m

The first candidates for major sales are Ronald Araujo and Frenkie de Jong, who are out of contract in 2026. Both are due for undoubtedly expensive contract renewals, and while it now seems that Barcelona want to keep Araujo, they were open to to sell last summer. Meanwhile, de Jong is one of the highest earners in the club, but they have to find a way to convince him to leave, which has failed on several occasions in recent years.
