For now, Sergi Roberto is not a Barcelona player for the first time in 18 years. His contract expired on June 30, and was not renewed before this date, which means that he is not a club at the moment.

Barcelona is interested in signing Roberto again, and an agreement is in place to return it. However, it would not be finished for at least a few weeks, since the club has not yet returned to the 1:1 rule of La Liga – and there are more important matters that will be addressed first.

Because of this uncertainty, Roberto has now decided to stop waiting for Barcelona. He had prioritized a return to the Catalans, but as per Sport, he did not start looking for a new club. His preference is a move to the Premier League, and he is now attracting interest from Aston Villa and West Ham United.

Ajax has proposed a contract, as have clubs in Saudi Arabia. Roberto considers these, but his desire is England. Unless Barcelona Miraculously returning to the 1:1 rule imminent, there is little or no chance of him returning to the club he joined as a 14-year-old.
