On Wednesday, it was reported that Villarreal are willing to close their third sale of the week – all to Premier League clubs. Jorge Cuenca, who was in the plans of Marcelino Garcia Toral for the new season, is close to joining Fulham, with a fee that has been agreed between the two clubs.

Ace for Sport, Fulham will pay in the region of €6.5m to sign Cuenca. However, only €5.2 million will be received by Villarreal, with the remaining €1.3 million going to Barcelona.
From 2017 to 2020, Cuenca was on the books of the Catalan giants. He made just two appearances for the first team before being sold Villarreal for 2.5 million euros, but as part of that agreement, they retained a 20% sell-on clause, which will now become active.
Every little bit helps Barcelona in his attempt to raise funds, since he aims to return to the 1:1 rule of the League before the end of the summer. This upcoming payment of 1.3 million euros will make a dent, even if it is a small one.
