Barcelona to request a new line of credit to help the signing of Nico Williams – report

Barcelona have made little secret of the fact that their top priority this summer is to bring in Athletic Club winger Nico Williams this summer. The decision of the player they seem to believe they can influence, but the biggest question is whether they can afford to pay his release clause of 58 million euros, amid the interest of Chelsea and Arsenal.

Despite the president Joan Laporta declared two weeks ago that Barcelona could sign Williams currently, many reports have contradicted this idea, and now Cadena SER (via Sport) say they will take out a new line of credit to finance the deal. Barcelona are not yet in their salary limit, but they have disclosed that they are closed on deals that will make the signing possible.

It is worth remembering that just a couple of months ago Barcelona secured a credit line of 100 million euros to be able to meet their bills in the coming months. This has been blamed on poor attendance at Montjuic, but once again the club's sustainability will come under scrutiny if that ends up being the case.
