Barcelona continues to struggle to bring back the fans to see them, with their figures of the season Montjuic improved, but still lagging behind where the Blaugrana wanted them to be.
In theory, the Catalan giants have 27,500 seats intended for season ticket holders in the 49,500 capacity Montjuic, and despite a 23% increase on last season, they still only managed to bring in 22,600. According to the figures provided by SportBarcelona ranks 15th in Spain for the number of season holders, with four Segunda sides ahead of them in Deportivo La Coruna, Malaga, Real Zaragoza and Real Oviedo.
It will not go unnoticed by Espanyol fans that for a second consecutive season, they have surpassed their neighbors, in this case by 3,400 fans. Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid top the list, although Los Blancos' figures are from last season. Athletic Club split the duo based in Seville, but Real Betis is by far the third most populous stadium in terms of season ticket holders.
Sporting Gijon is the only other Segunda team to rank ahead of the Liga teams, the tail of which is led by Getafe, Girona and Leganes, who have the lowest figures in the first division.
BarcelonaThe situation will probably change once they return to Camp Nou, scheduled for the end of the year, where they previously had 70,000 season ticket holders. However, it will remain a source of frustration for the board skint Barcelona, who will complain about the loss of income from his time at Montjuic at a time when it is needed.
