Barcelona Sporting Director Deco has been in contact with the agents of Valencia's gem, Javi Guerra, as the latter leaves Catalonia. War has been linked with the likes of Arsenal, Newcastle United and Manchester United in recent months.
The 21-year-old burst onto the scene last season, helping to save Los Che from relegation, and has also had a good start to this year, scoring several important goals. However, in the second half of the season, his form declined.
Ace for MD, Deco met with the agents of War at least once, where he ensured that the Blaugrana could bring an agreement. The latest is that Valencia would only ask for 20 million euros for him, and Deco believes that after the sale, and potentially reducing the price with loans in return, the Blaugrana are a real contender for his signature. New manager Hansi Flick will now have to evaluate him.
Flick: “Barça has one of the best academies in the world. There is a good mix between experience and talent in the team. We have to improve.”

Barcelona were linked with their partner Pepelu in the midfield before the season. While Guerra has a higher ceiling and can play anywhere in the middle of the midfield, Pepelu certainly represents what they lack much more precisely, at the base of the midfield. Understandably, Guerra would be more of a signing for the future as well.
