Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich reach agreement in principle on transfer fee for Jonathan Tah

kicker reports that Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich have reached an agreement in principle for a transfer fee for central defender Jonathan Tah.

The fee is said to be worth €25m and €5m in add-ons. However, the deal is not certain to be finalised, and specific criteria need to be met. The criteria is that defender Matthijs de Ligt needs to be sold. Once the Dutch international has left Bayern, then Tah can move to the Rekordmeister.

Luckily for Tah, De Ligt has attracted interest from Manchester United and the two clubs are negotiating over the fee. Most recently, Bayern are demanded €50m for De Ligt but the Premier League side does not value the centre-back at that price.

For Leverkusen, they will now need to find a replacement for Tah who has been at the club since 2015. Signs point towards former Liverpool defender Joel Matip as the potential successor. The 32-year-old fits the criteria of the type of defender that Leverkusen are looking for, however, Matip has attracted interest from other clubs, so the defending Bundesliga champions may have to act fast.
