Bayer Leverkusen are interested in signing 18-year-old Argentine forward Alejo Sarco with the Bundesliga champions again turning to the South American market to secure the next talents.
As reported by Kicker, Vélez Sarsfield and Sarco have fallen out. The youngster has refused to sign a contract extension – with his current deal expiring in December 2024 – and have only received “delays and excuses” from the player, his family, and agent regarding a new contract. As a result, Sarco is no longer a part of the first team.
Although Bayer Leverkusen’s interest, it’s unclear as to when they wish to sign Sarco. A free transfer in the winter, the Bundesliga champions would have to pay a fee to bring the forward to the Bay Arena in the summer.
Alejo Sarco regarded a top talent
Sarco signed his first contract with Vélez at 16 and was regarded as one of the club’s most promising players, even so that he was called up by Javier Mascherano for the Argentina U20 team.
