As reported by L’Équipe (via AZ), Bayern Munich are looking to sign Real Madrid left-back Ferland Mendy.
For the last few months, there have been consistent mind games between Real Madrid and Bayern concerning Alphonso Davies. With the Spanish giants identifying the Canadian as their dream left-back target, they have been doing what they can to ensure they land his signature.
Davies’ contract at the Allianz Arena is set to expire in 2025, meaning that he would be available on a free transfer next summer. However, while Real are willing to wait, they have also hinted about signing the 23-year-old at the end of this season.
Due to his contractual situation, it is understood that Bayern would be willing to allow Davies to leave for a discounted price. Nevertheless, a swap deal between the two clubs could now be beneficial for Bayern.
If Davies were to sign for Los Blancos, then Mendy would no longer be the first-choice left-back, leaving him surplus to requirements in the Spanish capital. Therefore, the record champions believe that a swap deal between the two would be conceivable.
Regardless, their priority is still ensuring that Davies remains at the club. A new contract has recently been offered to the Canadian, but it is now a waiting game to see whether Davies decides his future lies in Bavaria or Madrid.
