Bayern Munich are looking for alternatives to Alphonso Davies despite the statement from the Director of Football
Bayern Munich's director of football, Christoph Freund, spoke of “positive conversations” with Alphonso Davies' camp, noting that further talks were expected in the coming weeks. This comes after the Real Madrid target had repeatedly rejected offers of a new deal from Bayern, as they hope to negotiate a move for Davies to the Spanish capital in the summer.
Previous reports say that Davies' agent is asking for €20 million per season, while Bayern Munich's offer is around €13-14 million per year. However Relief stating that his camp are briefing that “something that could happen”, although he has a verbal agreement with Davies that he will join this summer or later. His contract expires in 2025.
The same outlet continues to report that, while they are very unhappy to renew Davies, they are starting to look for alternatives. MilanTheo Hernandez is one of them. He is happy at the San Siro, where he earns €5m a year, but Premier League sides Saudi Arabia and potentially Bayern are set to compete for his signature.
Meanwhile, Girona left-back Miguel Gutierrez, who Real Madrid have an €8m buyout clause and a 50% sell-on fee, is another on their radar for a potential move. If Bayern can't agree a new deal with the Canadian, they will be open to a sale this summer.
It would not be a surprise if Gutierrez ends up part of the deal to take Davies to Bayern. Real Madrid are reportedly looking to activate their buyback option this summer, if only to sell him in the summer at a profit. Los Blancos could use it to reduce Davies' price, but that only matters if he doesn't accept a renewal offer.
