According to Sky Germany, Bayern Munich have already begun contract talks with Jamal Musiala.
It had previously been reported that Der Rekordmeister had conducted a secret meeting with the German international to lay down their future plans—something that Musiala was set to be at the heart of.
It was understood that the meeting went well, and now concrete talks regarding a new deal are underway.
As stated in the report, these negotiations are not expected to be completed quickly, and it is believed that the 21-year-old will assess his options.
However, as of yet, Musiala is yet to talk to other top sides interested in his signature, such as Real Madrid or Manchester City.
With his deal not set to expire until 2026, there is still time for Der Rekordmeister to tie their talented midfielder down to a new long-term deal until either 2029 or 2030.
Nevertheless, this would entail Bayern making Musiala the joint top earner at the Allianz Arena alongside Harry Kane on a reported annual salary of €25 million, including bonuses.
There is confidence within the Bayern camp that they will be able to secure the 21-year-old to a long-term contract with the view that he will “become the second Thomas Müller,” according to Bayern president Herbert Hainer.
