Bayern Munich are close to appointing Vincent Kompany as their new head coach, according to Jacob Steinberg.
The Burnley manager had first been linked with the move less than a week ago but it appears the former Manchester City captain is already close to moving to the Bundesliga.
Bayern have had nothing short of a nightmare when it’s come to finding a successor to Thomas Tuchel.
The club first announced that Tuchel would leave the club this summer back in February. Since then, Bayern have failed to get a number of targets including Xabi Alonso, Hansi Flick, Ralf Rangnick, and more.
In fact, Bayern bosses were happy for Tuchel to stay beyond this summer due to the dire search. However, the former Chelsea and PSG manager couldn’t agree terms with the club.
As per the report, Bayern have held talks with their Burnley counterparts and are now at an advanced stage in the negotiations. Both parties are currently discussing compensation fees in order for Kompany to join Bayern.
Bayern are confident that the deal could be done in a matter of days. In turns of Kompany, he is expected to bring his backroom staff with him.
Kompany experienced a rough Premier League season with Burnley this year having been relegated after returning to the top flight last year.
