Over the past few months, Bayern Munich’s hunt for a new head coach has become increasingly more difficult. Initially, Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso was their number one target, but quite suddenly it became apparent that the Spaniard would not jump ship, soon committing his long-term future to the new Bundesliga champions.
Since then, Julian Nagelsmann, Ralf Ragnick, Oliver Glasner, and Roger Schmidt have all turned down the chance to manage Der Rekordmeister. As well as this, it has been confirmed that Unai Emery, Roberto De Zerbi, and Julen Lopetegui also have no interest in the possibility of succeeding Thomas Tuchel.
However, now, another name has emerged as one that can be ruled out of the running to be in the Bayern dugout next season. As reported by Bild, Bayern Munich do not wish to appoint Zinedine Zidane as their next head coach.
Therefore, the hunt continues for Bayern and Director of Sport Max Eberl as the pressure to find a solution to what has now become a mess rises. Regardless, Eberl is still confident that the right appointment will be made, as he stated to Sky Germany on Saturday:
“We will find a good solution. A very good friend of mine always says: The best comes last.”
