The Canadian defender Alphonso Davies he was given 10 days by Bayern Munich to set the course for his future, as the last in the Spanish capital. A long-term target for Real Madrid, he is said to have already reached a verbal agreement with Los Blancos.
Last week, Bayern sat down with Davies for contract talks, making a final offer for Davies of around €13-14m a year, well below their €20m demands. The 22-year-old has to refuse this offer, because he wants to sign for Real Madrid.
Now Brand they say Bayern have set a deadline of April 1 for Davies to either accept their renewal offer or bring a transfer offer to the table. The starting point in the negotiations will be around €50m, with Bayern unwilling to give up Davies at the price, even if his deal is up next summer.
Presumably this will backfire Real Madrid in action. They hold more of the cards in the negotiation, and there is no real consequence for Davies or Los Blancos if they miss that deadline. However, Real Madrid has shown in recent years that they prefer to have most of their business closed by June, and it seems that they will have at least the possibility of Davies.
