Bayern Munich target Bruno Fernandes comments on his future at Manchester United

As previously reported, Bayern Munich are looking into the possibility of luring Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes to Bavaria.

It is understood that Thomas Tuchel admires the 29-year-old’s talent and can imagine him playing a key role at the Allianz Arena. As well as this, with those at the Säbener Straße attempting to persuade Tuchel to remain in charge at the club, signing one of his key targets would ensure they keep their head coach.

However, according to Bild, the Bayern bosses are not yet convinced of Fernandes’ talents, and the Portuguese international is not on their transfer shortlist ahead of the summer. Nevertheless, speaking to Sky Sports after United’s 3-2 victory over Newcastle on Wednesday, Fernandes did not rule out a move away from Old Trafford:

“The club has to want me. The club wants me to be part of the future. But as I’ve always said, I don’t want to be a player the club doesn’t want.” If United “don’t want me for any reason, I’ll leave.”

With it appearing as though United will fall short of qualifying for European football this season, those in charge at Old Trafford may leave Fernandes with little choice. As reported by The Independent (via Bild), the club management are considering selling the 29-year-old this summer to create financial leeway.

Therefore, with Bayern being able to offer Fernandes Champions League football, this transfer could reflect a perfect opportunity for all parties. However, Erik ten Hag is hopeful that the Portuguese midfielder remains at the club:

“Yes, we definitely want to keep him. There is no doubt about that at all. He loves Manchester United; he loves playing for Manchester United.”
