Manuel Neuer was substituted during Bayern Munich’s 9-2 Champions League win against Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday night, and the Bundesliga side won’t be taking any risks with the player’s fitness ahead of their upcoming league game against Werder Bremen.
The 38-year-old was complaining of thigh problems following a collision with Dinamo forward Bruno Petković and was subsequently replaced by Sven Ulreich. Neuer spoke of “nothing serious” but the Rekordmeister want to monitor the player’s situation closely.
“He will train today and then we will decide,” said Kompany in Friday’s press conference. “He has a lot of experience, so we’ll speak after training and then decide. We just don’t want to take any unnecessary risks, but it’s looking good.”
Manuel Neuer will train today ahead of Bayern Munich’s game against Werder Bremen, but the club with monitor the player’s fitness following his substitution against Dinamo Zagreb in midweek, confirms Vincent Kompany.

Neuer made a miraculous return last season following a broken leg and was a part of Julian Nagelsmann’s German national team for the European Championship. Upon their elimination and subsequent UEFA Nations League games, Neuer announced his retirement from international football, but remains a key player for Bayern Munich and Kompany.
